Mitten Gift Bag and Tag Set

I used the much loved, Dollar Delights Mitten image from Designed2Delight to embellish a little gift bag that I picked up at Hobby Lobby for 40 cents (Yes...if you have a HL near you they have all their gift wrap, bags, tag, etc...50% off this week).  I liked the fact that it didn't have any design on the front and was just begging to be embellished.  I printed, colored and cut out the mittens and attached on directly on the bag and added the second one with foam dots.  I used a snowflake punch by Martha Stewart for the top and added silver pearls to the snowflakes and the mittens.  I could stop there and made a matching tag.
I printed the mitten just a little smaller and colored and added them the same way as I did on the bag.  I cut a piece of green cardstock 2 1/4" x 3 1/2", rounded the corners and embossed with the Spots & Dots embossing folder (Provo Craft).   I add a strip of Apron Lace (Fiskars) punched red cardstock, a snowflake, silver pearl and a 1" circle for the to and from sentiment.  I added a Round Tab punch (SU!) to the top of the tag and used the Slot punch (SU!) to make a hole for the ribbon.  Quick and easy way to embellish a store bought gift bag.

Gifts From the Heart Blog Hop

Gifts From the Heart Blog Hop

Welcome to the Gifts from the Heart Blog Hop by the Designed2Delight design team.  Also, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO Designed2Delight.  I hope you will be inspired by our cost efficient ideas to make a few little gifts yourself.

Here is my idea for a gift to say "Thank You from the heart" to someone on your gift list.  It could be neighbors,  co-workers, the mail person, the UPS person (that delivers our crafting supplies throughout the year), your friends and the list goes on...

I made a box using my largest square die cuts.  It was really quite easy and fun to do.  The instructions can be found here.  The original instruction have a handle attached, but it make it look like an Easter basket and that was not the look I was after.  So...I followed the directions for the box and just left the handle off.  One less step and less supplies.  I used one of the Dollar Delight images, the Mitten by Designed2Delight.  I have to admit...it's my favorite and it's only $1.

1.  Make the box according to the directions.
2.  Print image and sentiment, color and cut out.
3.  Adhere mitten to oval with glue for the lower one and foam dots for the upper one.
4.  Punch and die cut snowflakes.
5.  Fill bag with Chocolate Covered Pretzels and tie closed with ribbon.
6.  Attached the bell brad to the snowflakes and to the ribbon with glue dots.

Here is a run down of what it cost me to make this cute little gift.

Supplies:
Lt Blue and White Cardstock
Patterned Paper: Country Snowflakes (The Paper Company)
Digital Image: Mitten (Designed2Delight)
Sentiment: Computer generated (Lucinda Handwriting)
Snowflake Die: Spellbinders
Oval Dies: Spellbinders
Snowflake Punch: Martha Stewart
Bell Brads: Spare Parts
White ribbon, white felt, plastic bag, Copic Markers and foam & glue dots

***********************************************

Chocolate Covered Pretzels Recipe:
Bag of Pretzels
Bag of Chocolate or Vanilla Chips

Melt the chocolate over a low heat or in the microwave 15 seconds at a time until the chocolate is melted.
Dip the pretzels in the chocolate and lay on wax paper to dry.
*OPTIONAL:  While the pretzels are wet, you can sprinkle them with...
crushed candy canes
toffee bits
candy sprinkles

2 Sisters Challenge 15

2 Sisters Challenge 15
Sponsor: Glitterbabe

Welcome to 2 Sisters Challenge Blog Challenge 15.  Glitterbabe is today's sponsor and she allowed each design team member to choose the image of their choice to work with.  I chose the Hanging Ornaments because I love it and I don't have any images like this.  On to my card...

I started with the Hanging Ornaments image, printed and colored it with OMS and pencils.  I rounded the bottom corners and attached a strip of green cardstock that was punched with the Apron Lace punch by Fiskars.  I added lots :) of silver pearls and adhered the whole image to a piece of red cardstock that was embossed with the Spots & Dots embossing folder.  I added a strip of DP (Holiday Stripe by The Paper Company) that was layered with green cardstock, again using the Apron Lace border punch.  The sentiment is a stamp by Stampabilities (Christmas Always) and I only used part of the sentiment.  The whole sentiment reads: Merry Christmas, Love, Hope & Joy Always.  I punched the sentiment with my Word Window punch by SU!...and more silver pearls!

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to join in the fun and make your own card, post it over at 2 Sisters Challenge Blog and maybe you just might win some prizes from Glitterbabe.

ETA:  OOPS...I was suppose to use non-Christmas colors, but ya know...I am feeling like red and green are not as popular as they used to be.  Look around the next time you are in a store.  There are so many Christmas themes with pinks, purples, lime green, aqua blue even black...anything goes in today's world!

Snowflake Peace

I started with a white card base that was embossed with the Polka Dots embossing folder by Provo Craft.  I cut a piece of cranberry colored cardstock and rounded the corners and punched a snowflake out of the upper right corner.  A strip of My Mind's Eye DP and a piece of green cardstock punched out with the Zig Zag punch by EK Success and some snowflakes were added.  The sentiment is by Hampton Arts and I stamped it with white ink and embossed it.  A few pearls under the sentiment finished off this card.  This was a fairly quick card to make and could easily be mass produced.  I haven't quite decided on which design I will use for my Christmas cards yet.  Time is ticking, so I better get busy!

Birthday Frogs

Just a real simple card that I made for a little girl  that is going through Chemo and struggling with Cancer everyday.  The DP is from K & Company.  The sentiment is from Heidi Grace.  I, also made a matching notebook...

Just a little notebook that I picked up on sale dirt cheap and embellished with the same DP as the card above.  I, also purchased the stickers to match the DP and used the frog one layered with various colored and sized circles.  I sure hope this makes Sara smile!

Skating Penguin

This is the FREE image that is being released today at Delightful Inspirations.  If you have played all month it is in your inbox, if not...you can purchase it here and still play along.  Make sure you start on the first Friday of the month to receive the FREE image.

After printing and coloring the Skating Penguin image, I cut it out with a square die cut and a matching scalloped square.  With the die in place, I sponged ink around the edges of the image. The Patterned Paper I used is from the Love Me Do collection by My Mind's Eye.  I love the combo of the red and aqua blue.  The big snowflake is 2 die cuts and one snowflake brad from Spare Parts.  I added some glitter to the blue snowflake and also, to the image.  Some Crystal Effects make Mr. Penguin's nose shine.  Just some ribbon and a bow to finish off this card.

Thanksgiving Blessings

One more shot at the Harvest Basket image from Designed2Delight.  I printed, colored with markers, cut out with a square die cut and mounted the image on a layer of orange card stock with the lower edge punched with a Martha Stewart punch and the whole piece was layer with  brown card stock.  The DP is something I pick up last year and can't remember who makes it.  The sentiment stamp is Thanksgiving Blessings by Print Works Collection.  I used my circle punches for the sentiment and a few silver pearls.  I am not real sure that I like this card as it didn't quite turn out the way I had envisioned it in my mind, but then again that is a very common occurrence for me.

Thanksgiving Blessings to You!

Just Because

UGH...I love to make cards with lots of  little embellishments, but lately it is costing me around 84 cents and more to mail a card.  I belong to a special group through Chemo Angels and I send out lots of encouragement cards to those struggling with cancer and going through Chemotherapy.  I decided that I needed to come up with some simple, mailable cards.  You know...the ones that fit into the envelope without any bulges.  Those bulges add up in the postal world.  So here is the first design I came up with and I made 16 of them in four different colors, pink, purple, yellow and blue.  I am only showing you the purple and yellow one.  The other ones have gone postal....literally.

I used the Whimsy Flowers image from the Willow Whimsy Digital set by Designed2Delight.  I am loving this image and the versatility of it.  I cut out the images after printing and coloring them with my rectangle die cuts and made a matching scalloped layer.  The little round vases are an oval die cut that was cut in half and ran through the Bubbles embossing folder by Provo Craft.  If you look closely to the photos, I have the bumps on the outside of the brown vase and on the inside of the purple vase.  The sentiment is from the Round and Round stamp set by PaperTrey Ink.  I just attached the whole piece to a white card base.  I am not sure you can tell in the photos, but I put some Crystal Effects in the centers of each flower.  It gave the card just that little bit of bling without adding an extra weight.

Fishin'...

Here is another cute image from Bugaboo.  I couldn't resist this one and have had it colored up for some time now.  After coloring, I cut it out with my circle die cut with a matching orange scallop layer.  I am keep it on the masculine side so....no flowers and no bows, etc...  The DP is Bloom & Grown Collection by My Mind's Eye.  I used the Polka Dot embossing folder to emboss the top green layer.  A strip of yellow and orange bring the two layer together on the card base.   I generated the sentiment on my computer.  See those orange brads?   Well, they are faux brads.  I used a regular paper hole punch and punched out 3 circles, glued them down and added Crystal Effects.  It give you the brad look without the bulk.

I even finished the inside of the card...

I kinda had to since it has the rest of the sentiment.  Quick and easy and why don't I finish more of my card insides??

2 Sisters Challenge 13

2 Sisters Challenge 13
Theme:  Christmas

The challenge this week over at 2 Sisters Challenge blog is pretty easy.  You just have to make and post a card with a Christmas theme.  Easy, peasy this time of year.  I am sure you have been working on or need to get a start on your Christmas cards, so why not enter the 2 Sisters Challenge and win a great prize.

This card was posted yesterday, as I thought I would kill two birds with one stone and use the Kaela Angel image from Designed2Delight for my 2 Sisters Challenge card and my Designed2Delight card.  Well...that and I just love this image! It worked out great that Kaela Angel is this weeks free image over at Designed Inspirations.  I hope you don't get mad at me for posting the same card two days in a row, but...it's already a hectic time of the year.

Go check out all the other design team members cards and get some great inspiration to start on your Christmas cards.

Kaela Angel

It's Friday and you know what that means!  Another FREE image is being released over at Delightful Inspirations.  Kaela Angel is the free image this week.  You must start at the beginning of the month and play along each week to receive the image for the next week.  I hope you started this month with the Harvest Basket and played along this week.  You can always go here and purchase Kaela Angel and still play along with us. On to my card...

I am loving this image and she was so much fun to color.  I used a mixture of markers and pencils to get the right look.  The DP is from the Love Me Do Collection by My Mind's Eye.  The strip of red card stock was embossed with the Snowflake embossing folder by Provo Craft.  The big snowflake is a mixture of die cuts, stickers and punches with an added button.  I added glitter to Kaela's wings and some flocking to her fur trim.  I generated the sentiment on my computer and made the ticket flag.  I can't wait to see all the project this week over at Designed Inspirations using Kaela Angel.  She is just in time to use on your Christmas projects.

Give Thanks

First and foremost, I want to say...Happy Veteran's Day and a big THANK YOU for those that have fought for our freedom here in the United States and those that are currently defending our country and will someday be our future veteran's.

Here is my card using the new image, Harvest Basket from Designed2Delight.  Since Fall is my most favorite season, I am loving this image.  I printed the image and colored it up with my markers and cut it out with the Labels Four die cuts by Spellbinders.  I used the Houndstooth embossing folder on a piece of brown card stock  as my base for the image.  I added some orange ribbon and two yellow buttons threaded with orange floss.  The whole image was added to the card base with foam dots.  The Harvest Basket set comes with 3 different sentiment and this is the one I chose to use.  I kept my card on the clean and simple side, but not really postal friendly with the two yellow buttons.

Scrappy Frogs - Give Thanks
Crafty Emma - Autumn
Stamp, Scrap and Doodle - Fall Cards

Our sponsor for this challenge is the very talented Judy of Digi Doodles Shop. Judy and her mom make some amazing images.  A special thank you to Judy and her mom for giving the design team some images to play with this week.  I chose the Coneflowers image to work with and I absolutely love how it turned out.

Go on over to the 2 Sisters Challenge blog and check out all the wonderful designs.  We all chose a different design to work with.   Play along and win an awesome prize from Digi Doodles.
