Hello Sunshine

Here is another freebie from Paper Smooches.  I am becoming hooked on their cute designs and sentiments.  I used a strip of DP from DCWV (Lemon Flower Stack).  It has some sparkle to it. I added a gray border (Upper Crest Border punch by Fiskars)to the bottomThe sunshine, which was colored with a couple of yellow Copic markers, is popped up with foam dimensionals. It reminds me of the song, You are my Sunshine... It's a clean and Simple card that was quick and easy to put together.

So Sweet

Sweet and Simple!  Trying to stay with my clean and simple look.  It's really hard, as I want to keep adding another "something".  I think, the clean and simple look really allows the main image to stand out.  I know it's not everyone favorite style, but I am stuck on it right now.  This is just one of the adorable images that Faith created for Whipper Snapper Designs.  I had a ton of fun coloring this cute little strawberry girl.

Recipe:
Stamps: Berry Sweet (Whipper Snapper Designs), Cupcakes and More (Fiskars)
Paper: Purple Gingham (The Paper Studio)
Coloring: Copic Markers

Puppy Hello

I am loving this cute image from D2D.  What's not to love about a cute puppy???  This is actually a gender friendly card and could go to a girl or a guy.  The flower is not too foo fooey and the brown color makes it a little more masculine.  I cut the sentiment into a little flag and attached it to the layered flower.  It's a very brown card!

Recipe:
Stamps - Curious Pup (D2D), Sentiment (Studio G)
Paper - Baby Boy Stack (DCWV), white & brown cardstock
Coloring - Copics, Brown ink
Misc - Square dies (Spellbinders), Crocheted flower, felt button, button

Cardabilities Sketch 54

It's April 30th and that means a new card sketch at Cardabilities.  Has it really been 2 weeks since the last one?  Whew...that was fast!

I am really enjoying my time as part of the Cardabilities Design Team!

And here is my take on the sketch...

I used a Stamp Fairy digi as my main focus.  How sweet is this little bear?  The DP from my new Fresh Floral Stack by DCWV went perfectly with the image.  I added some Glossy Accents to the bear's nose and the center of the flower.  I scored the adorable pink felt flower from the bridal section at Michael's.  Check out the bridal section of your local craft store and you might be surprised what great embellishments you will find there.

Come along and play with us at Cardabilities.  We post a new sketch on the 15th and the 30th of each month.  There is always some goodies to win, too!  Don't forget to check the rest of the DT's awesome designs using the current sketch.

Recipe:
Stamps - Stamp Fairy (bear), Inkadinkado (sentiment)
Paper - Fresh Floral Stack (DCWV), Yellow, white and green card stock.
Coloring - Copics
Misc - Pink grograin ribbon (SU!),  Lacey circles and Classic Circles dies (Spellbinders), 1"& 1.5" circle, scallop edge punches (SU!), Glossy Accents, Felt Flower (Bride's Collection, Michael's)

Thoughts and Prayers

There is never a good time to make a sympathy card.  It's always a sad occasion, but it means so much to the recipient.  This is one kind of card that I never have on hand.

My husband's roommate from college lost his father this week and we wanted to let his family know that we are sharing in their sorrow, too.  I immediately grabbed my "Thoughts and Prayers" SU stamp set.  It's my go to set for sympathy cards.  I don't know why, but I always keep sympathy cards on the simple side.  I stamped the branch and the sentiment on some white card stock and embellished the flowers with a tiny punched white flowers and mini black brads.  I layered the top panel with black card stock and then adhered the whole piece to a white card base.  Quick, easy and ready to be mailed!

RECIPE:
Stamps:  Thoughts and Prayers (SU)
Ink: Jet Black StaZon
Paper: White and Black card stock

Apple Thank You

I was just messing around with some of my punches that don't get used quite often enough and came up with a cute little apple thank you card.  Would make a great Teacher Thank You card!

I absolutely love the "chalkboard" DP that is quite old and no longer available that I know of.  I am sure there is something similar to it out there in the paper world that would work as a replacement.  I made a center rectangular panel to add the punched apples and the sentiment.  I actually pulled out my Versa Mark ink and clear embossing powder to give the sentiment a deeper value.  The red DP is from a fall kit of papers by Imagine That and they are really old.  The center panel is added to the card base with foam dots and the red part of the apple is also added to the green apple base with foam dots.  A little black ribbon, a red button and some black hemp finish off this card.  Be sure and stop back by tomorrow and check out the matching gift set I made using this same theme.

Recipe:
Stamps - Sentiment (Hampton Arts)
Paper - Chalkboard DP (?), Fall kit (Imagine That)
Misc - Black ink, Versa Mark ink, Clear embossing powder(SU!), Apple punch (Martha Stewart), Corner Rounder (EK Success), Black ribbon, red button, Black hemp (SU!)

You are the Best!

"Raincoat Pixie"

Woo Hoo..lots of layers going on here!  Paper-piecing, too!  I admire everyone else's paper-piecing and decided to dive in.  It's fun and really makes the image.  Because of the paper-piecing, there was very little coloring.  Just the hair, the umbrella and the buttons. I am so proud of my crocheted flower and need to sit down and make some more.  I think, I used a record number of buttons on my card!

It was a rainy day all day yesterday and this card fit in perfectly with the weather.  We really needed the rain to wash away some of the pollen in the air and cool things down.  High 80's is way too hot for March!

Recipe:
Stamps -  Raincoat Pixie (?), Sentiment (Hampton Arts)
Paper - Quite Contrary (My Mind's Eye)
Coloring - Paper-Piecing and Copics
Misc -  Buttons, Crochet Flower, Floss, Rectangle dies (Spellbinders), 1" circle punch (SU!), gemstone.

Ladybug Sunshine

Loving this adorable image from Designed2Delight and yes, it was one of my cards in the D2D March Reveal and Blog Hop that is going on right now.  There is still time to join in on the fun, see some great Spring inspiration and possibly win some free digi's!! I love the look of printing/stamping on Kraft card stock and coloring with colored pencils/OMS.  The sentiment is from the new, "Drenched" set from D2D, too!  I kept my card very simple and clean.  After coloring, I added two red glittery flower brads.

Recipe:
Stamps - Ladybugs, Drenched (Designed2Delight)
Paper - Kraft, red and white card stock
Coloring - Colored pencils/OMS
Misc - Flower brads and black brads

CAS Lucky Me

This is my take on a really Clean and Simple card.  These cards are so much more challenging for me than one with lots of layers.  I always feel like I need to add more.  With St. Patty's Day right around the corner, I was going with a different spin on a card for the one I love.  The sentiment says it all for me.  I am so LUCKY to have found the most wonderful man that I call my husband.  Don't get me wrong, neither of us are perfect, but we are perfect for each other.

I wanted to try a chevron pattern and used my zig zag punch to create that pattern.  I used a die cut and couple of  circle punches to make the sentiment.  A little green bling is the finishing touch.

Recipe:
Stamps - Sentiment (Studio G)
Paper - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and white card stock, Amber Autumn (DCWV)
Ink -  Bamboo Leaves (Memento)
Misc - Zig Zag punch (ek Success), Label Four dies (Spellbinders), gemstone crystal bling.

I entered my card in the following Challenges:

Card Caravan - Lucky Green

Have a Sunny Day

This is one of the images that I chose from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps for winning one of my challenge entries.  I would love to be sitting in that chair, listening to the sounds of the ocean and feeling the gentle breeze blowing.  Looking at this card just relaxes me and a little ocean paradise is my favorite thing to do. I used coordinating papers from the Citrus Stack by DCWV.  The glittery brads have been in my stash for far too long.  The stamped sentiment is from The Stamps of Life.  It was perfect for my beachy card!

Recipe:
Stamps: Ocean Paradise (Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps), Summer4Fun (The Stamps of Life)
Papers - Citrus Stack (DCWV), Sand paper (The Paper Studio)
Coloring - Copics
Misc - Circle dies (Spellbinders), Apron Lace punch (Fiskars), Brads (Spare Parts)

Sweet Ice Cream

Love, Love, Love this new image from Faith at Designed 2 Delight!!!  It was quite quick and easy to color and put together on a card.  It's a clean and simple card to be mailer friendly, especially since postage just went up!  This is a great digi set that comes with 3 different sentiments.  I love the fact that besides being so cute, it can be used for so many different occasions.  I added a little Glossy Accents to the "heart" cherry on top.

Recipe:
Paper -  Sweet Nectar (K & Company)
Coloring - Copics
Misc - Scallop edge punch (SU!), Treading Water edge punch (Fiskars), Glossy Accents

Get Well Ladybug

Well...Some BAD news and some GOOD news.  First, my 5 year old computer crashed on Sunday and it was a sad day as I didn't back up all my files, but just some of them and pretty much lost everything.  All my digi's are now gone except for the Designed2Delight ones that I happened to backup on my external hard drive a couple of weeks ago.  So the only other digi's I have left are the ones that I had already printed.  But, life goes on and I wasn't about to give up on my computer and on Monday after a lot of thought, I spent the entire afternoon on the phone with a Dell Tech and now....my computer is like brand new.  I lost everything and have to start fresh, but my computer is running like brand new.  I am happy and thankful to the Dell tech that revived my computer and brought it back from the computer graveyard.  So even though it started out bad, it ended up being a very good thing :)

Now on to my card.

I have had this adorable digi, "Little Ladybug" by Whimsy & Stars Studio colored for some time and waiting to be made into a card.  It seems that I never have a get well card when I need one. Now, I have one in my stash ready to be sent.  I used Glossy Accents on the center of the flower and the ladybug's spots and a white gel pen for the highlights on her cheeks.  It's hard to tell from the photo, but there is a black and red button layered in the center of the crocheted flower.  I kept the card simple to showcase the adorable image.

Recipe:
Stamps - "Little Ladybug" (Whimsy & Stars Studio). Sentiment (Innkadinkado)
Paper - The Goods, Rudolph (American Crafts)
Coloring - Copics
Misc - Martha Stewart edge punch, crocheted flower, buttons, floss, Glossy Accents, Rectangle dies (Spellbinders)

Snow Friends Thank You

I used the same digi, Snow Friends by Whimsie Doodles for my Christmas Thank You notes that I used on my Christmas cards.  Once again, I kept the design on the simple side.  It's a fun digi to color and mass produce.  I went with a blue theme instead of red, like I did on my Christmas cards and just changed out the sentiment.  Of course, I had to add a little snowflake with a blue brad in the middle.  Well, here we are in the middle of January and I am staying on my "stay organized" plan.  So far, so good!

Recipe:
Stamps - Snow Friends (Whimsie Doodles), All Holidays (SU!)
Paper - The Paper Studio
Coloring - Copics
Misc - Black ink, Snowflake, brad, Square and Lacy Square dies (Spellbinders)

Bubble Fun

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a fun, relaxing weekend and if you are a card maker, I hope you had time to make lots of cards in honor of World Cardmaking Day.  I did get a few done and this is one of them.  I have been looking for a cute bubble bath image and this one, "Bubble Leah" from Whimsie Doodles was the final choice.  I colored it all pink and cute with my Copics.  I added Glossy Accents to the bubbles and the glass.  The bubbles on the sentiment are clear dew drops and I have had them forever and that is no exaggeration.  I had to have them years ago when they were so popular and never, ever used one of them.  I was looking for an accent for the sentiment and they made perfect bubbles.  Two sentiments are included with this digi.  Nothing better than a nice, relaxing bubble bath :)

Recipe:
Stamps - Bubble Leah (Whimsie Doodles)
Paper - Ally's Wonderland (S.E.I)
Coloring - Copics
Misc. - Lattice deep-edge punch (MS), Square & Oval dies (Spellbinders), Glossy Accents, Dew Drops

School Maisie Belle

Back as promised with my card using "School Maisie Belle" image by D2D.

I don't know which I love more the name, Maisie Belle or the image?  Very school related card using lots of hoarded school related papers.  I added a mini red brad for the button on Maisie Belle's dress and 4 more!  I don't think that I will ever use up all of my hoarded brads!  I added a hole reinforcement to the sentiment that I colored with a marker.  Don't forget that the Friday Free Stamp Challenge at Delightful Inspiration is using this adorable image.  If you haven't been playing along all month, then you can still join in on the fun and purchase the image in the D2D shop

Back to School Thanks

Another fun image from Whimsy & Stars Studio.  Since school is just around the corner or in some cases, already started, I wanted to create a card using a school image.  I have had the image colored for a couple of weeks now and was wanting to get it made into a card.  Sometimes there is just not enough creating hours in a day!!  I used DP from the Amber Autumn stack by DCWV and Homework by Cosmo Cricket.  I made the lil' chalkboards with black cardstock and a white gel pen.  The "thanks" sentiment is from the SU! set, Three Thoughts, stamped with white ink to get the chalk effect.  Just a little paperclip with some ribbon was the finishing touch.
