Waiting for Autumn

Anything Goes

No excuses this week.  Just play with whatever D2D image that you own.  It's that easy :)

Here is my card:

I, so love to create with Autumn colors.  They are my most favorite color combos...oranges, browns, greens and yellows.  I can almost smell the wonderful scents of Autumn.  Something about argyle and Autumn seem to go together.  I actually used my Sizzix button die to embellish the border strip.  I had to have that die and it has been sitting in my craft room for way too long without ever being used.  Why do I do that?  I used a real button on the image.  I am sure you will be seeing more of this image in the near future.

Stamps: Stitched Pumpkin set (D2D)
Coloring: Copics
Paper: Amber Autumn (DCWV)
Misc:  Square die cuts (Spellbinders), Button #5 Die cut (Sizzix), button, Apron Scallop punch (Fiskars)

Birthday Wishes

Yummy!  A pink frosted cupcake with lots of sparkly sprinkles.  I love this D2D set, "Cupcake Mouse".  I think that I say that a lot about all the D2D designs.  This set includes a girl mouse and a boy mouse with a cupcake and 3 different sentiments, too!  I love images that include a sentiment or 3.  This is a quick, easy image to color and then on to the really fun part...designing the card.  I will be back soon with the boy mouse image.

Ballerina Teddy

Well, I am either late posting today or early for tomorrow.  I want to think in a positive way and say that I am posting early for Wednesday.  I have a list a mile long this week to try and get done and sneaking in some creative time has not been easy.  I have actually had this image, "Ballerina Teddy" by Whimsy and Stars Studio colored up for about a week now and waiting to decide on which DP to use.  I finally decided on a pattern from the Songbird Collection by My Mind's Eye (floral), Amber Autumn Collection by DCWV (embossed red) and Spook Tacular Collection by K & Company (orange/red polka dots).  I am really liking the red, orange and yellow color combo.  It feels very festive to me.  I added some glitter to the ruffles on the skirt and the star wand.  I cut out one of the flowers from the DP and added a felt button to the center and used it an an embellishment.  I even added some gemstones to the tips of the crown.  I don't seem to use my hoarded gemstone quite enough :(

If you like Mabelle's designs...you have another day or two to pick up a free one here on FB.

I sure am going to miss working as a designer with Mabelle's images, as this is my last month on the Whimsy and Stars Guest Design Team.  You can be sure that I will continue to create with her adorable images :)

Back to School Thanks

Another fun image from Whimsy & Stars Studio.  Since school is just around the corner or in some cases, already started, I wanted to create a card using a school image.  I have had the image colored for a couple of weeks now and was wanting to get it made into a card.  Sometimes there is just not enough creating hours in a day!!  I used DP from the Amber Autumn stack by DCWV and Homework by Cosmo Cricket.  I made the lil' chalkboards with black cardstock and a white gel pen.  The "thanks" sentiment is from the SU! set, Three Thoughts, stamped with white ink to get the chalk effect.  Just a little paperclip with some ribbon was the finishing touch.

Coffee Girl

Lots of dots, checks and stripes.  I am loving this image, "Coffee Girl" and the colors that I ended up with.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Whimsy and Star Studio Guest Design Team and totally honored to have given the opportunity to work with Mabelle's original designs.

The DP is from the Sweet Nectar collection by K & Company.  The sentiment is from the stamp set, Coffee Cafe by TPC Studio.  I used a white gel pen to add all the white dots to the image.  It's the little things that add so much to the image after coloring and I need to remember to used my white gel pen more often :)

"Fore" You

***Note to self...check to make sure preposted post really did post as scheduled!

I have had this image from Bugaboo ready to be made into a card for some time now.  This was the perfect image for a "guy" card.  The bugaboo images are so cute and so easy to color.  I kept it on the simple side...errr...meaning, no ribbons or frilly anything.  The DP is from the My Mind's Eye Lil' Robots collection, Laser Lines.  The colors of the stripes matched perfectly to my colored image.  I don't know about you but I never pick my DP until after I have colored my image.  Sometimes that can be quite the challenge!  I added a piece of green that was embossed with the Argyle embossing folder.  I used the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder and a circle punch to make some golf balls.  I generated the sentiment on the computer and make it into a little flag.  I have been on a roll lately with "guy" cards.  Maybe I better make a few more while the mojo is flowing.

I even finished off the inside...

Confession to make...this card didn't quite make it on time, so it is getting to it's destination a little late.

Stamp Something - Use a Digi

Now this is a fun image...the beach, a pail and lots of hearts.  Beach Love is from D2D and it just screamed fun, summer colors.  After coloring and die cutting, I inked the edges and added some Enamel Accents to the scallop layer.  The blue DP is "lil' Robots from My Mind's Eye and the sand is from The Paper Studio.  I generated the sentiment on the computer and added a little sticker from K & Company.

I even finished off the inside...

Another Pink Birthday

Another pink birthday card.  Here is my very "girly" take on Rosie Ballerina by Whimsy & Stars Studio.  I love gingham and the color pink, so this DP by The Paper Studio was perfect for this image.  I added a strip of DP by American Crafts, I Heart You and a punched strip from the MS, Trellis Deep Edge punch.  I didn't want to cover up the hearts, so I used some sheer white ribbon with the addition of a pink button.  The sentiment is from PTI and embellished with three dimensional heart stickers.  I am working on getting my stash of birthday cards stocked for upcoming birthdays.

Cupcake & Roses Birthday Wishes

Buttons, Buttons, Buttons...

Who could wish for more on a birthday than a yummy, delicious cupcake and some roses?  Well, I altered the image, "Cupcake and Roses" by D2D and added some felt flowers of some sort, not really roses, but I will take fresh flowers of any variety,  any day of the year.  The challenge was to use at least 3 buttons and I think I surpassed by a couple more.  I do believe that this is the most buttons that I have ever put on a card.  I have had this "Cupcake" DP by The Paper Studio for some time now and that ended up being my inspiration for the pink/brown color combo.  The felt flowers are from SU! and it seems the more I use the more they multiply.  Let's just say that I have gotten my money's worth from that purchase.  The sentiment is from Heidi Grace, stamped with brown ink.  Oh, and lets not forget the chunky, glittery goodness on the icing!

**If you play along with the Delightful Inspiration's Monthly Progressive Challenge, I have some good news for you this week.  It's been quite a busy week for Faith and since there isn't a new image, she is allowing everyone that played along last week to pick an image of their choice.  This week's challenge will be to use any D2D image.  How great is that??

Challenges:

Top Tip Tuesday - Make it Girlie

Boy Birthday

I have been spoiled by 2 granddaughters and used to making "girly" cards and frilly stuff.  Now that I have a grandson, I need to get in the groove to make "boy" cards and non-frilly stuff.   I have had this darling image by Bugaboo sitting on my workspace colored and waiting to be made into a card.  Yesterday was the day and I tried to keep within the "boy" guidelines...no frilly anything or big fluffy bows.  I think, it all worked out just fine.  Since, I always struggle with birthday cards for boys, this will fit the bill, perfectly.  I used some star paper from the All About Boys stack by DCWV and the Numbers embossing folder by Provo Craft.  The sentiment is a stamp by Heide Grace, punched with the Ticket Corner punch by SU!  A  red star and a blue brad finish off this "boyish" card.

Challenges:

It's a Rosie Kind of Day

Happy Wednesday!  It's a Rosie Posie kind of day...well, in card creations anyway.  Another cutie patootie by Mabelle from Whimsy & Stars Studio.  I am loving the color combo that I used for this card.  Luckily after coloring Rosie Posie, I had some DP that matched.  That is not always the case :(...and you would think with all the DP that I have hoarded, that would NEVER be the case.  Both DP's are from DCWV (Citrus Stack & Amber Autumn).  A big orange polka dot bow and a blue button was the finishing touch.

Warm Wednesday Wishes to YOU!

You're So Sweet

Such a sweet image by Designed2Delight and if you have been playing along all month, this was one of the "Stamps of the Month" freebies.  I am a berry kind of person, the strange kind of girl that would choose berries over chocolate any day :).  So how could I not create with this sweet image?!!  There is something about gingham that reminds me of summertime and the green gingham paper from Hobby Lobby matched perfectly with Imaginice's, Flower Trails DP.  The sentiment from Fiskar's, Cupcakes and More was spot on for this image.  I layered a white prima flower, a punch from SU! and a yellow brad as an accent.  3 sweet, little pearls finish off my card.

I hope you have a sweet day!

D2D's Saturday Challenge

This week's challenge is hosted by Kim.
What a great theme for the middle of July.
Here is my take on the theme...

I could handle a week or two at the beach right now.  Anywhere with water to cool off would work for me.  I chose one of the images from the Tropical Christmas set by D2D.  The coloring was done with my Copic markers.  I finally broke down and bought some refills for my Copic markers.  Not too cool when you have expensive markers that are running out of ink :(.  I used some DP from My Mind's Eye (Summer Song) and some cork for the sand.  The sentiment sticker is from K & Company.

I hope you have a little getaway planned for sometime this summer.

Thanks so much for all your sweet comments about my published card.  I enjoy sharing my love for card making with all of you and I have the best followers :)

"Home"

I am loving this "home" image by Whimsy & Stars Studio.  What a perfect design for someone that has just moved into a new home.  I colored up the image, cut it out with my circle die cuts, added the picket fence (MS) and a SU! sentiment (Everyday Celebrations).  I used DP from My Mind's Eye (Be Loved) and DCWV (The Guy Stack).  This will be going postal soon for someone special that moved into a new home.

Published :)

I am sooo....excited that one of my cards was chosen to be published in the September issue of CardMaker magazine.  I haven't been published very many times, but I have a feeling that no matter how many times it happens, you always get the wonderful feeling that I am feeling right now.  The UPS man just dropped off a big envelope that contained the published card and 2 issues of CardMaker magazine.

Here is my winning card....

"Apple a Day" by Designed 2 Delight

My card is on page 46.

I really needed this about right now.  It has been a rough couple of weeks and hopefully things will start to look up again.

Summer Bug

Another sweet Whimsy and Stars Studio Summertime image.  The whole Mimi Bug line is so irresistible.  They are all so sweet and versatile.  I did something a little different on this card.  I stamped alot of random flowers on the background and added glossy accents to the centers giving them some shine.  Glossy accent were added to Mimi's wings.  I love Mimi Bug in her pink and purple sundress...so girly :)

Sweet, sweet, sweet....I am loving this little sweet pea and just by changing the colors, you can make it for a boy or a girl.  This was a quick and easy image to color.  I make a frame with my die cuts and used some DP from The Guy Stack by DCWV.  The sentiment is from an older SU! set, Rivets.

Goin' Buggy

Theme: Goin' Buggy (Use a bug image, bonus use your Cricut or Cuttlebug)
DT Host : Kris Breach

I went a little "buggy" with my card today.  I used the "Ladybug Balancing Act" from D2D and used my Cuttlebug to emboss the yellow card stock and die cut my image.  I added a little orange felt button to the center of the flower.  The DP in from the Black & White collection by Making Memories.  The image was colored up with Copics, Glossy Accents added to the ladybug dots and I sponged ink around the edge of the image with the die cut still in place.  The sentiment is from the Cute Converse set by SU!

Feel Better Soon

Another adorable image from Whimsy & Stars Studio.   Wouldn't it be great to cure any illness with a really big band-aid?  When my children were little, a band-aid was a cure-all whether it was a real or "pretend" ouchie...LOL.  The DP is from Peebles Treehouse and the sentiment stamp is from Hampton Arts.

I have so many colored images that need to be made into a card or something creative and this happens to be one of them.  I think, I am on a roll this week, getting all those images made into cards, finally!
