Back To School Apple

I am loving this adorable Apple with a Worm image from Meljen's Designs.  I made another school related card.  It all started with the Apple/Worm image that I colored up with my markers.  The card base went in many different direction before I settled on this design.  The DP is a combo of different companies.  The lined abc paper is Story Hour by October Afternoon and the pencils are The Boyfriend Collection by Cosmo Cricket.  They were add to a piece of yellow cardstock and then embellished with a piece of ribbon right where the 2 designs meet.  I added 3 black circle punches to the ribbon and top them with Crystal Effects to give a rivet look.  The apple/worm was added on top of the Story Hour paper with foam tape.  The whole piece was backed with a piece of black cardstock and then adhered to the white cardbase with foam tape.  For as easy as this card looks to make, it took me foreva' to bring it all together, which usually means leaving it be for a while.  This would make a great set of notecards for a special teacher. Pumpkin Boo

How cute is this lil' pumpkin?  I used a free digital image of a pumpkin that Jane of Plain Jane was so nice to design and share.  It was just a pumpkin, but I thought it needed a cute little face and so after coloring the pumpkin with my markers, I added the face using a sharpie black pen.  Well, I could stop there and make my own sentiment, too.  I don't know if you can tell from the photo or not, but I added Crystal Effects to the eyes, nose, dots in the corner of the mouth, the dots on the letters and the 3 dots in the upper left corner of the card.  Wow...I am sure some of you have already figured this out...I punched little black circles out, glued them to the card and added Crystal Effects and oh my goodness...no need to buy those little stickers that look like brads or gemstones, I can make my own and whatever color I desire.  Just a little tip incase you didn't already know that.  The paper is from the Spooktacular by K & Company.  I am getting a lot of mileage out of this paper stack.  That pretty much does it for this card.

Fall Wreath Thanks

A fall thank you card.  I pick up this free digital image from Designed 2 Delight.  I love all the fall leaves and used my markers to color in all the wonderful colors of fall.  I can't wait to smell the cool, crisp air of fall.  I used Mercy's sketch to design my card.  I used paper from the Amber Autumn Card Stack by DCWV and added some hand stitching on the left side of the strips of paper with embroidery floss.  The main image is popped up with foam dots and I added a little tag for my sentiment from Studio G.  Just a little button, which started out white and I colored it red with my marker to match finishes off this fall card.

Gettin' Some Love...

LOL...yes this is still a stamping blog and the title doesn't mean what you think.  Not me...one of my cards.  Melissa from Meljen's Designs is giving my Apple Worm card a lot of love today.  Check it out here.  What can I say?!!  I am one happy girl right now!  Melissa has the cutest digital designs that I have ever seen and if it weren't for her outstanding talent in creating them, I wouldn't be able to create such a cute card.  Thanks, Melissa for givin' me some love today!

Boo to You

The card was created using the Boo to You Collection by My Mind's Eye.  All the different patterned papers and the "Boo" sentiment was included.  A punched out 1 3/4" circle was added to the back of the "Boo" to make it resemble a head.  I added the "to you" by using the Everyday Expressions stamp set by The Paper Studio and inking it up with brown ink.  This was a really quick and easy card to make.  I hope this Halloween card is more cute than scary!

Get Well Soon Bear

Here is a cute little bear image that I pick up somewhere out in blog land that came in handy to make a get well card with.  Wouldn't you love a cute bear to show up with some pretty flowers for you when you didn't feel so great?  I don't know about you, but I will take fresh flower anytime.  I love the aroma of fresh flowers in the house.  On to the card...

This card is for my brother and sister-in-law who were in a motorcycle accident.  They are quite banged up, but on the road to recovery.  I tried to make it gender neutral since it is going to both of them and not too girly, but not too masculine, either.  I colored up the image with my markers and added some crystal effect to the centers of the flowers, the bear's nose and the bee's wing.  The patterned paper is from the Amber Autumn collection by DCWV.  Lots of great fall colors and patterns in that collection.  I put 2 gold brads where the button were on the bear's pants.  The sentiment is from Studio G.

The Prize

The theme this week was monochromatic and we were given a choice of 3 digital images from Stamping Dragons to work with.  OK...I chose Rupert's Wedding.  Have you ever started to make a card and it just didn't seem like it was going to the way you wanted?  Yep...I kept at it and WOW...I really do like this card!

Well..being the image is of dragons, I went with the a green monochromatic card.  Lots and lots of green!  After coloring Rupert and his bride, they seemed to come to life and I was really starting to like them.  Dragons...I would never choose a dragon image on my own, but it allowed me to step outside my comfort zone and work with an image that is probably not really my style.  I colored the image with my markers and added some little gold pearls to the center of all the flowers.  Those teeny, tiny pearls are really hard to work with.  I used a strip of DP from The Songbird paper pack by DCWV (I love that paper pack!).  I really liked how the green leaves went with the dragon image.  Do dragons eat leaves or am I thinking of dinosaurs?  Oh well, the colors matched and that is what I was looking for.  The sheer green ribbon actually started out as a white sheer ribbon and I just colored it with my green Copic marker to make it the right shade of green without having to go out and buy new ribbon.  Way to go...use what you have.  I often do change the color of white ribbon by coloring it with markers.  The sentiment is by Everyday Expressions by The Paper Studio.  I hope you think these dragons are as cute as I do!

CCAYR September Challenge

Oh my...where does the year go?  It's already September and that means fall will be here quickly, the children are back to school and the summer is over soon :(.  The challenge this month at CCAYR (Christmas Cards All Year Round) is to make a card that is any shape other than the standard (4 1/4" x  5 1/2").  It can be square, rectangular, circular, big, small, whatever, but not the standard size. You card must also have gold, silver, crystal or pearl on it somewhere as well.  There you have it and here is what I came up with.



 I decided to make some little 3" x 3" gift cards to go with my Christmas gifts this year. Why buy gift cards when I have everything already to make them?  I made duplicates of each of these to use during the holidays.

I used red polka dots dp from Recollections and the Holly Jolly is a cardboard sticker from K&Company. There are 2 gold pearls in the center of the button or holly berry.

The stamp is from the Winter Wonderland stamp set by Fiskars.  I added the gold pearl to the center of the snowflake.  Trimmed the front panel by 1/4" and added a scalloped border on the bottom.

A snowflake sticker by The Paper Studio that I added pearls to, a strip of snowflake patterned paper, a stamped sentiment and a scalloped border make this one quick and easy to duplicate.

I decided to make some little 3" x 3" gift cards to go with my Christmas gifts.  I made duplicates of each of these to use during the holidays.

Nature Hello

Just a little nature hello.  I love the fall colors on this card.  This is me...fall, earthy colors.  The DP and the tree with the owl are from the Boo to You Collection by My Mind's Eye.  I absolutely love the colors and all the coordinating papers and accessories in this collection.  A quick and easy card to make once I decided on my layout.  I used the hello stamp from Everyday Expressions by The Paper Studio.  I stamped it on a piece of DP, rounded the corners and add 3 orange brads.  The tree and the sentiment are added to the card with foam tape.  I can feel fall in the air...it can't come soon enough!

Back to School Thank You

I am not sure where I did get this apple with a worm digital image?  If you know, please let me know so that I can give credit where credit is due.  I am thinking that most children are back to school by now or are starting very soon now.  When I came across this cute apple with the worm, it made me smile and think of school.  I colored the image with my markers.  I colored two images and cut out the worm and leaf from the second one and added it with foam tape right over the original design.  You can't tell from the photo, but it gives the card some dimension.  I added some glitter, faux stitching, a scalloped strip using Check Him Out DP by the Just Dreamy Collection and red cardstock and a couple of yellow buttons.  The sentiment is Greetings by TPC Studio and stamped in black ink.  The green background paper is embossed with leaves and is by Bazzill Basics.  I really don't like worms, but I do think this one is awfully cute!

ETA:  The cute little apple/worm image is from Meljen's Designs.  She had the cutest images!

Snowman Joy

Another Christmas card using the same snowman image as yesterday.  Instead of blues, I used reds and greens for this card.  It a great way to use the same image and get a totally different look by using a whole new color scheme.  I started with a red card base and added a swirl embossed white layer.  I colored the snowman with my markers, cut him out and layered him on a  piece of red card stock.  I added some sparkly snowflake stickers and red brads on top of the snowflakes in the image.  Some red ribbon and a sentiment from 4 Klear Stamping finished off the card.  Maybe this image will cool down the weather outside??  I am submitted this for the Christmas in August challenge over at Sew Many Cards.

Snowman Pleated Fun

This was a really fun card to make.   The Snowman digital image was easy to color and I am not sure where the image came from, but I had it on my computer.  If you know where this image came from or are the original designer of it, please let me know so that I may give you credit and link back to you.  I basically, just colored the snowman with markers and then added dimensional glaze to the buttons and his nose.  The patterned paper is from The Paper Studio.  It was the perfect addition to the snowman image.  I tried a new technique with the ribbon....pleating.  It was actually quite easy using sticky tape and glue dots to help hold the pleats in place.  There is a challenge going on over at No Time to Stamp using pleated ribbon.  The sentiment is from Everyday Expressions by The Paper Studio.  I added some snowflakes that I found in the Christmas aisle at Hobby Lobby and some pearls.  I corner punched the top corner to finish the card.

Black & White

The ink is black, the page is white... I had this song in my head, Black and White by Three Dog Night the whole time I was making this set of note cards.  OOPS...I am showing my real age!!  Yep, it was a 70's song and yes, I was in high school in the 70's.  Life was great back then...so carefree and fun. 

Here is the set of note cards that I made using the Clean & Simple style...

I used 3 different patterned papers from The Paper Studio and cut out a 3.5" square and layered them with black card stock.  They were tied with ribbon from Hobby Lobby and attached with foam tape.  I stamped 4 different sentiments from Greetings by TPC Studio.  A great little gift idea.  I am thinking of doing some matching envelopes and tieing them up with a white sheer ribbon and there you go...all done and ready to be gifted!

  We were challenged to use the following sketch and one of the Stitchy Bear digital stamps of our choice to make a card.

It's a pretty easy sketch (Thanks Mary for going easy on us!!) to work with and I really like the way my card turned out.

I choose the image, "Summer Fun" by Stampin Dragons.  I fell in love with this image when I saw it...beach, sand, water...what's not to love?  I ended up changing the rectangle in the middle to a circle.  I had a lot of fun coloring this image and thinking that I really don't want the summer to end quite yet.  This image of a beautiful, relaxing scene on a beach.  Ahhh...I can smell the fresh ocean air, hear the waves and feel the sand between my toes as I look at this card.  The dotted Swiss card stock is from Bazzill Basics and the DP is the Bloom & Grow collection by My Mind's Eye.  I added some gold pearls under the sentiment (Everyday Expressions by TPC Studios) and one big blue pearl to the beach ball.  I colored an extra beach ball and popped it up with foam dots.  The beach chair is paper pieced with the DP.  I am ready for a trip to the beach!

Pink Ballerina Bear

Here is another take on the Ballerina Bear image by Beccy.  I did one in a purple color scheme in this post.  Having 2 granddaughters close in age, I usually just do two of everything and just change things up just a little to keep them different.  I used lots of pink on this card.  Pretty simple layout...just colored the images with markers and then added lots of glittery goodness.  The polka dot paper is from The Paper Studio and the sentiment is from Greeting by TPC Studio.  A pretty satin bow, a flower and some pearls help to add a little more bling to the very "girly" card.

New Home

I am getting a lot of mileage out of my DCWV Songbird Collection.  Here is another card using a couple more pieces of the DP.  All I did was cut the pieces to size and glue them on a red card base.  I really like the piece of DP that looks like stitching. I stamped the sentiment from Everyday Expressions by TPC Studios and added 2 red pearls.  A great house-warming card!  That's pretty much it for today...

Tulip Notecards

I am staying with the clean and simple style today.  I found this lovely tulip digital image over at Create with TLC.  There are tons, and I am not kidding, of FREE digital images and sentiments.  I made 4 cards, coloring each tulip a different color with my Copic markers.  I layered the image on a piece of card stock to match the tulip and stamped the "hello" sentiment by TPC Studios (Greetings) and added 3 pearl gems below the sentiment.  This would make a great little gift for someone.

Can't get enough...The DP, I mean.  Another card using the DP from the Songbird Collection by DCWV.  This card is a little on the clean and simple side.  Just a piece of DP for the focal point with a red polka dot bow, a simple sentiment from Greetings by TPC Studios and 3 red pearl gems.  Quick and easy and I guess that is what clean and simple is all about!  And you thought it was the Hokey Pokey...

Bloom & Grow

OK...not a lot of stamping on this card.  I had picked up all the coordinating papers in the Bloom & Grow Collection by My Mind's Eye and used some of them to create this birthday card.  The collection had a page of card stock embellishments and I used 3 of the flowers and the piece with the curvy shape (not sure what you call that) and the dotted lines.  I cut the curvy piece in half and stamped the sentiment.  the sentiment is actually 2 different sets, happy birthday from Greetings by TPC Studios and to you from Everyday Expressions by The Paper Studio.  I pick up some Recollection pearl gemstones that matched the colors exactly.  I added some below the sentiment and one to the center of each flower.  It's pretty easy to put a card together when you have all the coordinating elements.

Strawberries...YUM!

A Basket of Strawberries is the digital image from Beccy's Place that I used for the focal point on this card.  Is this card not so sweet and yummy?  It was really fast to color using my Copic markers.  Lots of red polka dots.  The DP is Basic dots from Recollections.  I didn't have the right sentiment and ended up creating my own on the computer and embellished it with some red pearl gemstones by Recollections.

Happy 6th Birthday Claire

My beautiful granddaughter, Claire turns 6 today.  Although she won't get her card until her party on Saturday, I am posting it today.  I am sure that she doesn't read my blog.  I used a FREE digital image from Beccy's Place.  She has a wonderful blog and posts lot of her digital creations that are so adorable.  When I saw the ballerina bear, I knew it would be perfect for my two Granddaughter's birthday cards.  I decided that Claire's bear needed to be purple to match her bedroom,  I colored the bear with my Copic markers and love the way it turned out.  I couldn't help but put a little glitter here and there on the image.  After all don't all girls love things that sparkle?  The purple polka dot paper is from The Paper Studio and the sentiment is Greetings from TPC Studios.  A big white bow, purple flower and a gemstone finish off this very "purplish" card.   I can't wait for the big party on Saturday!

OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge

I think this card fits the OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge...A fall card with no sentiment.  I love fall and all the wonderful smells and colors of the season.  I am a very "earth tone" person.  It will be nice to have some cooler fall weather to be outside and enjoy the changes of the season. 

I used a neutral card base and added the DP and embossed card stock that have the corners rounded.  to separate the DP and card stock, I added a strip of brown and a couple of copper large brads.  The stamped pumpkins were colored with colored pencils and OMS.  Actually, with the DP there is no need for a sentiment on this card.

What a great challenge over at iCopic Lover!!  I would love to win some more Copic markers {insert happy face!!}.  Here is the card I did based on the colors. 

I started with a digital image by Sassy Cheryl's.  I don't remember where I found it, but it is so absolutely adorable.  I worked mainly with the colors, chocolate, ivory and gold markers to color the image.  The main card DP is from the Lush Collection by My Mind's Eye.  Very chocolate brown and very masculine.  The sentiment is from the Everyday Expressions by The Paper Company.  It's a great little stamp set with tons of words to create your own sentiment. 

I am submitting this card for consideration for the Southern Girls Challenges Design Team.  I used a digital image as my favorite product.  I am hooked on digital images lately.

OWH S&S Sketch Challenge 29

Here is my take on the sketch challenge over at Operation Write Home (OWH).  It's a wonderful organization that I support by making and donating cards to our hero's in the military.  It must make them feel good inside to be able to send a homemade card home to their loved ones.  It's almost time for school to start and here is my card and the sketch. 

I went with a back to school theme.  The background DP is Check Him Out by ? and I found it at Hobby Lobby.  The manufacturer's label must be on the piece I cut and glued down...oops!  The piece of pencil DP is The Homework Collection by Cosmo Cricket.  The piece that looks like a piece of notebook paper is the opposite side of the pencils.  I love it when a piece of DP has 2 great sides.  It's like getting 2 for the price of 1 and who doesn't love a bargain?  I colored some hole reinforcers with a Copic marker and added them to the paper to look more like a piece of notebook paper.  The sentiment is from Greetings by TPC Studio.  I think the paper clip adds just the right finishing touch.  I really like this sketch and plan to use it again.

DCWV Thinking of You

Another day...Another card and more DCWV DP from the Songbird Collection.  When I saw this piece of DP in the collection, I was wowed by the fact that there was little I was going to have to add to make it into a card.  The DP pretty much was already a card sketch.  A white card base, a yellow scalloped border, the sentiment (Greetings by TPC Studio) and some red pearl gemstones was all I added in addition to the DP.  I hope you are not getting tired of this collection quite yet, as I have lots more paper left to create with.  I am really proud of myself for cutting into this paper and using it rather than hoarding it until it becomes extinct.

It makes me happy when a card comes together so easily.  I pulled out my Songbird paper pack by DCWV and made another really quick and easy card.  I started with a white card case and added a piece of embossed card stock by Bazzill Basics.  I pick up this card stock at Michael's and I am really liking it.  It comes in quite a few different colors that are embossed with different designs.  How great is this for papercrafters that don't want to invest in a die cutting/embossing machine?  I guess, maybe I am being a little lazy because I do own a Cuttlebug and lots of embossing folders.  But really, I couldn't resist buying the already embossed card stock that had trees all over it.  I added the DCWV sentiment block to a piece of yellow card stock with a scalloped bottom edge and attached the whole piece to the card with foam dots.  It's a simple, easy and very reproductible (my spell check is telling me that this is not a real word!) card.  I just realized...no stamping on this card....but something did occur to me.  I have never thought of making my own embossed DP using embossing powder.  I am thinking that is something I need to try soon.

2 Sisters Challenge 4

Woo Hoo...Challenge 4 is here already over at 2 Sisters Challenge Blog.  Today, we were given a choice of digital images from Crafty Sentiments to use and the theme today is stitching.  Ok, I know lots of you use your sewing machine to stitch on your cards and have been doing it for some time, but me....NO.  I admire everyone's creations using real machine stitching and want to try it, but NO, I never have UNTIL....now.  Since the theme is stitching, how could I not put my paper to the sewing machine and find out how really easy it is and how much I really liked doing it?  Well, the fear or procrastination or whatever you want to call it has been conquered and it may become a regular on my creations.  Can I tell you something else that I tried for the first time ever on this card?   Paper piecing...yes, it's been around forever and why oh why have I not ever tried it?  I love it and it was so easy to do!!  Crazy me and my silly insecurities in life...

On to the card...I used Pat Sitting by Water image by Crafty Sentiments and as you can see I paper pieced her overalls in a floral My Mind's Eye DP to make them all girly.  I colored the rest of the image with my Copic markers.  I layered a piece of lt blue card stock and piece of My Mind's Eye DP together and Zig Zag stitched them together.  They were then mounted on my white card base.  I cut out the image and mounted it with foam dots.  The sentiment is stamped on white card stock with Everyday Sentiments by The Paper Studio and mounted on a strip of lt blue card stock that was punched with the lattice edge punch by Martha Stewart, then I stitched with just a straight stitch above and below the sentiment.  I was even amazed that my stitching was really straight!  I added 3 brads on each side of the sentiment.  I guess all those years of sewing since Jr. high have finally paid off....I can stitch on paper!

May Your Dreams Take Flight...

I made a set of note cards to have on hand or maybe give away as a gift to someone.  I used my computer to generate the sentiment, "May your dreams take flight".  The whole idea came about from a package of 3 dimensional butterfly stickers and some My Mind's Eye DP that matched perfectly.  I even made matching envelopes for each card.  These cards have a clean and simple look to them and were very quick and easy to make the whole batch in no time at all.

Birthday Pippin

I am not a mouse lover or even liker...the truth be known, I am deathly afraid of them, but this little Birthday Pippin image from Digital Delights is so adorable.  She is so girly looking.  I colored the image with my Copic markers and added quite a bit of glitter to the stars and flowers.  The DP is Girl Multi Stripes from The Paper Studio found at Hobby Lobby.  Staying with the "girly" theme, I added some yellow, pink and purple layering under the image and scalloped one edge of the purple card stock.  A pretty purple bow and a pink button were added to fu fu it up just a little more.  The sentiment is from TPC Studios (Greetings).  It's a great stamp set with lots of different card sentiments.  The great thing...it's on sale this week at Hobby Lobby!  I have some upcoming girl birthdays and this will make a perfect card for one of them.

Smile

Sending a smile to brighten someone's day.  I finally broke down and bought the Songbird paper pack from DCWV.  Of course, not full price, but 60% off at Michaels.  I am in looove with all the yummy paper.  I started with a red  card stock base and added the floral DP...the color combo of red, golden yellow and green makes me smile.  So happy and so cheerful.  The rectangular image was part of a sheet of sentiments included in the paper pack.  The smile sentiment was perfect for this card.  I layered it over a piece of red card stock and added a golden yellow scalloped edge and attached to the base of the card with foam dots.  The red pearl gemstone was the right touch to the center of the flower and there you have a finished card very quickly.  I decided to keep the card simple without a lot of embellishments since, it will be on it's was to Canada very soon.  I am sending this card to brighten up Nancy's mom's day.

CCAYR August Snowflake Challenge

This month's challenge over at CCAYR blog has a snowflake theme.  This is a great time to get going and make a few Christmas Cards and get ahead of the holiday game.  Once I got started on the snowflake theme, I just kept going and before I knew it, I had 5 cards made.  5 cards (and they can be 5 of the same design, too) is all it takes for a chance to be the winner for the month.  There are always some great goodies to be had.  Feel free to create as few or as many cards as you would like.  I would love to see all your "snowflake" creations!
