Cupcake & Roses Birthday Wishes

Buttons, Buttons, Buttons...

Who could wish for more on a birthday than a yummy, delicious cupcake and some roses?  Well, I altered the image, "Cupcake and Roses" by D2D and added some felt flowers of some sort, not really roses, but I will take fresh flowers of any variety,  any day of the year.  The challenge was to use at least 3 buttons and I think I surpassed by a couple more.  I do believe that this is the most buttons that I have ever put on a card.  I have had this "Cupcake" DP by The Paper Studio for some time now and that ended up being my inspiration for the pink/brown color combo.  The felt flowers are from SU! and it seems the more I use the more they multiply.  Let's just say that I have gotten my money's worth from that purchase.  The sentiment is from Heidi Grace, stamped with brown ink.  Oh, and lets not forget the chunky, glittery goodness on the icing!

**If you play along with the Delightful Inspiration's Monthly Progressive Challenge, I have some good news for you this week.  It's been quite a busy week for Faith and since there isn't a new image, she is allowing everyone that played along last week to pick an image of their choice.  This week's challenge will be to use any D2D image.  How great is that??

Challenges:
Die Cuttin' Divas - Sweet Treats
Top Tip Tuesday - Make it Girlie
KB Cute Monday - Food and Beverage
Stamps R Us - Happy Birthday
Come have some fun and play along with us for a chance to win a great prize.

Boy Birthday

I have been spoiled by 2 granddaughters and used to making "girly" cards and frilly stuff.  Now that I have a grandson, I need to get in the groove to make "boy" cards and non-frilly stuff.   I have had this darling image by Bugaboo sitting on my workspace colored and waiting to be made into a card.  Yesterday was the day and I tried to keep within the "boy" guidelines...no frilly anything or big fluffy bows.  I think, it all worked out just fine.  Since, I always struggle with birthday cards for boys, this will fit the bill, perfectly.  I used some star paper from the All About Boys stack by DCWV and the Numbers embossing folder by Provo Craft.  The sentiment is a stamp by Heide Grace, punched with the Ticket Corner punch by SU!  A  red star and a blue brad finish off this "boyish" card.

Challenges:
Totally Gojuss - Punch or Die Cut
Lollipop Crafts - Anything Goes
The Crafty Pad - Embossing, heat or dry
The Corrosive Challenges - All About Kids
Cooking It Up with Katie - Colors of your Flag/Something your country is known for

It's a Rosie Kind of Day

Happy Wednesday!  It's a Rosie Posie kind of day...well, in card creations anyway.  Another cutie patootie by Mabelle from Whimsy & Stars Studio.  I am loving the color combo that I used for this card.  Luckily after coloring Rosie Posie, I had some DP that matched.  That is not always the case :(...and you would think with all the DP that I have hoarded, that would NEVER be the case.  Both DP's are from DCWV (Citrus Stack & Amber Autumn).  A big orange polka dot bow and a blue button was the finishing touch.

Warm Wednesday Wishes to YOU!

You're So Sweet

Such a sweet image by Designed2Delight and if you have been playing along all month, this was one of the "Stamps of the Month" freebies.  I am a berry kind of person, the strange kind of girl that would choose berries over chocolate any day :).  So how could I not create with this sweet image?!!  There is something about gingham that reminds me of summertime and the green gingham paper from Hobby Lobby matched perfectly with Imaginice's, Flower Trails DP.  The sentiment from Fiskar's, Cupcakes and More was spot on for this image.  I layered a white prima flower, a punch from SU! and a yellow brad as an accent.  3 sweet, little pearls finish off my card.

I hope you have a sweet day!

D2D's Saturday Challenge

This week's challenge is hosted by Kim.
What a great theme for the middle of July.
Here is my take on the theme...

I could handle a week or two at the beach right now.  Anywhere with water to cool off would work for me.  I chose one of the images from the Tropical Christmas set by D2D.  The coloring was done with my Copic markers.  I finally broke down and bought some refills for my Copic markers.  Not too cool when you have expensive markers that are running out of ink :(.  I used some DP from My Mind's Eye (Summer Song) and some cork for the sand.  The sentiment sticker is from K & Company.

I hope you have a little getaway planned for sometime this summer.

New Home

Thanks so much for all your sweet comments about my published card.  I enjoy sharing my love for card making with all of you and I have the best followers :)

"Home"

I am loving this "home" image by Whimsy & Stars Studio.  What a perfect design for someone that has just moved into a new home.  I colored up the image, cut it out with my circle die cuts, added the picket fence (MS) and a SU! sentiment (Everyday Celebrations).  I used DP from My Mind's Eye (Be Loved) and DCWV (The Guy Stack).  This will be going postal soon for someone special that moved into a new home.

Thanks for stopping by!

Published :)

I am sooo....excited that one of my cards was chosen to be published in the September issue of CardMaker magazine.  I haven't been published very many times, but I have a feeling that no matter how many times it happens, you always get the wonderful feeling that I am feeling right now.  The UPS man just dropped off a big envelope that contained the published card and 2 issues of CardMaker magazine.

Here is my winning card....

"Apple a Day" by Designed 2 Delight

My card is on page 46.

I really needed this about right now.  It has been a rough couple of weeks and hopefully things will start to look up again.

Thanks for stopping by :)
