Cute Little Valentines

Just some cute little 3" x 3" Valentines

I used the "Little Valentines" digi set by Whimsie Doodles.  The first set of three are geared more towards kids.  I colored them with copics and added Glossy Accents to the chips of the cookie, the propellor of the airplane and the ruler.  I layered them with a matching scalloped circle.

Next are a set more suitable for adults.

They are made the same way as the ones above with Glossy Accents added to the frog's lips and belly, the hearts on the pears and the silver part of the top.

Quick and easy and fun to make!

Sweet Love

I used the "Boy Roses" image by Bugaboo for my card today.  I used the color challenge from The Pink Elephant (Red, Pink & Brown).  I started with a white panel and layered the different pieces of patterned paper and card stock.  The finished panel was layered with a piece of red card stock and attached to the card base. I used a variety of papers...pink dots, hearts and the "sweet love" sentiment border are from K & Companies Ka-Zoo Collection.  The bottom brown squares is from SU's  Good Morning Collection, the brown card stock is embossed with the Argyle embossing folder and the xoxo paper is The Way Love Goes by Daisy Bucket.  I glittered the roses with my Stardust glitter gel pen and then added Glossy Accents.  I use the following punches...Scallop Diamonds and Arrow Hearts by EK Success, Scallop by SU! and Apron Lace by Fiskars.  Whew...lots of punches and lots of patterned paper.  Some ribbon, a bow and a button finish off the card.

I could go for some beautiful roses anytime!

 Card Ideas Saturday Challenge
* The D2D Design Team used the  "Laughing Giraffe's" image to create a Valentine Card

* If you don't own this set you can still play along.  If you have it why not use it? To enter this challenge:

1. Use any Designed2Delight image (if you use an image from Laughing Giraffes your name will be entered 3 times Ü)

2. Must be a Valentined themed project

Here is my card...

I made a guy giraffe and a girl giraffe.  Maybe I should have added a pink bow to the pink "girl" giraffe?  Why do I always think of something else to embellish the card after I have photographed it and posting it on my blog?  After coloring up my image, I used a heart die cut the cut it out and add a pink scalloped heart layer.  I didn't have just the right sentiment and finally it came to me.  I generated this one on the computer using the Calibri font.  The metal button is really a brad.  The patterned paper is from the KA-Zoo Collection by K & Company.

Go here and check out the other D2D Design Teams cards using this image.  Play along with a chance to win some free D2D images.

You're a Great Catch

It's Friday and that mean a new release over at Delightful Inspirations.  Go check it out. If you played along this week then you already have the "free" image, if not you can pick it up here.

I chose "Fishing Valentine" for my image from D2D today.  This is definitely a "guy" card and I tried hard to keep it that way.  As much as I love my flowers, ribbon and all those girly embellishments, I stuck with metal brads and jute.  After coloring my image and cutting it out, I back it with a piece of olive colored card stock and some metal brads in the corners.  Sticking with a manly look, I chose Kraft card stock as my base and mounted my image on it with foam tape.  I added Glossy Accents to all the hearts and the bear's nose.  The sentiment is the Alba font and I wrapped some jute around one end and tied a big knot.  I used the Zig Zag punch (Martha Stewart) to back the sentiment panel.  There you go...no girly touches on this card.

Sweet Love

How sweet is this cute image from Bugaboo?  It was part of their January Digi Club which contained 20 different images and "Girl Roses" was one of them.  It was the prize for the challenge I won over at the Bugaboo blog during their 1st Birthday Celebration last week.  I now have lots of really adorable Bugaboo images to get busy coloring.  I colored up "Girl Roses" with my markers and added Glossy Accents to the hearts and Diamond Dust (SU!) to the roses.  I have found that Glossy Accents makes the best glue for glitter.  The sentiment is a stamp by Hampton Arts and it was stamped with black ink.  I am going by and entering the challenge over at Claudia & Co. for this card.

Here is the check list:
2 sheets of DP  (Ka-Zoo by K & Co.)...check
3 Buttons...check
1 Image...Girl Rose by Bugaboo...check
1 Piece of Decorative Trim (at least)...check

I have completed the challenge and am very happy with the results!

Love Ya Cupcake & News

I have a couple of things to share with you today.

First up...I have been asked to join the design team over at The Stamping Boutique.  If you are not familiar with TSB, go check it out.  They have tons of wonderful digital images!

2nd...I was chosen as the Top Crafter in the Claudia & Co. Challenge last week.  This is the card the winning card.  I have to admit that I love the card myself :)

Now...on to my card for today...

Just a real simple little Valentine card.  Started with a white square card base (5" x5") and added a layer of patterned paper (Ka-Zoo collection by K & Company).  I added a white heart doily that I have been hoarding for way too long....Yea Me....use what you have!!  Next the fun part...the image is Love Ya Cupcake by Designed2Delight (this was the free image last week over at Delightful Inspiration) and I went for a chocolate cupcake.  After coloring it all pink and chocolately, I cut it out and added glossy accents to the sprinkles.  I adhered the image to the doily with foam tape.  Quick, easy and I am going to be making a few more of these before Valentine's Day.

Is it a cupcake, a conversation hearts or just a chocolate kind of day for you?

Magnetic Note Pads

(The notepad set on the left can be found in this POST)

I remembered seeing some cute magnetic note pads, that I usually buy, but now...I can make my own.  I didn't realize how quick and easy these were to make.  I had some junior legal pads cut in half at my local office supply store and they are the perfect size for a grocery or "to do" list.  I measured the size of the note pad,  including the front flap and cut my card stock accordingly.  I used sticky tape to adhere the cardstock to the back of the note pad and added some coordinating patterned paper to the little tab on the top.  I added some puffy heart stickers and you could also make a matching pen.  Don't forget to add a strip of magnet so that it will stick to your fridge or some other magnetic place.  A great gift idea!

A Perfect Pear

Just a simple little card today. Whew...my creativity is worn out after all those birthday challenges going on all week at Bugaboo's 1st birthday celebration. I did happen to win one of the challenges and received the whole digi set of January releases. Bugaboo has the cutest digital stamps!

I couldn't resist paper piecing the two pears. This was a really quick and easy card to make. I printed the image three times, once on white cardstock, once on the yellow patterned paper (My Mind's Eye, Jack & Jill Collection) and once on the green patterned paper (My Mind's Eye, Lil' Robots Gizmo Gears). I colored the leaves and stems with my markers. I used a marker to add a little shading to the green pear. I am not sure where I obtained this image and if you know, please let me know so that I may give credit to the designer. I cut out the image with a square die cut and layered it with a green scalloped square. I added a green bow and attached the image to the card base with foam tape. This would make a great Anniversary card.

ETA:  The image came from Little Paper Shop and they closed their doors last December.

Pink Purse Card

Designed2Delight's Card Making Ideas Challenge
Challenge: Fun Folds

I opted to make a card that looks like a little purse.  I started with a piece of pink cardstock that was cut 5" x 8" and folded in half.  I measured an inch from each edge on the open end and cut from the folded end to the open end at a diagonal on my paper cutter.  I used Labels One (the next to the largest size was perfect) for the top flap of the purse and folded it in half.  All the fronts pink cardstock was embossed with the Diamonds and Dots embossing folder by Quickutz.  I used scor-tape to attach the die cut to the back of the card base.  I made 2 slip in the top fold for the ribbon handle.

Now that the card base is complete, the fun part begins....creating your own personal style.  I lined the inside with a piece of patterned paper (DCWV, Glittery Sweet Matstack) and added a little pocket if you wanted to add a gift card or a little cash.  The sentiment (Love2Hug by The Stamps of Life) is stamped on a scalloped long rectangle die cut with black ink.  The front image is D2D's Cuppy Cake colored with my markers and cut out.  I stamped the sentiment (HappBday2You by The Stamps of Life) and cut it out with a circle die cut and added a scalloped layer.  The whole image was attached to the top flap with scor-tape.  I used some small pieces of velcro to hold the card shut.

I hope you like my little pink card purse and stop on over at the D2D's Card Making Ideas blog and check out all the other fun fold cards.  Play along with our challenge and you may win a great image of your own.

Alligator Treat Bag

I am trying to finish up and post all my Bugaboo 1st Anniversary projects before the deadline.  This is the final one...a birthday project.  I went with a treat bag or you could use it for a very small gift or gift card.  I started with a little kraft gift bag that I found at Michael's some time ago.  I colored up the Alligator Balloon image from Bugaboo and cut it out with a circle die cut and left the balloon extended outside the circle.  I made the balloon all shiny with some Glossy Accents.  The patterned paper is from the Boo To You collection by My Mind's Eye.  I layered a  3/4" circle punch (SU!), a star punch (Marvy Uchida) and a silver brad.  The zig zag chain is by EK Success.  I finished off the bag with a green polka dot bow.  Now...it just needs to be filled with some party treats!

Cup of Cocoa

I am loving the bright colors on this card.  It brightens up the dreary days of winter.  I followed the Color Challenge over at The Pink Elephant (Pink, Orange and Aqua).  I wouldn't normally think of using these colors for a winter image, but I am liking the combo and the end result.  I chose the Whimsie Doodle image, "Cup of Cocoa" and colored it up according to the color challenge.  I went with a piece of orange polka dot patterned paper from the Amber Autumn paper pack by DCWV.  Next came the pink cardstock punched with the Garden Trellis punch by Martha Stewart.  The sentiment is from the stamp set, Melt your Heart by Printworks.  I stamped directly on the patterned paper.  I layered an orange felt flower (SU!), a white felt snowflake and an aqua button and held them together with pink floss.  My image is attached with foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Friday to You!

Wonderful Friend

This is the card I made for the Color Challenge over at Claudia & Company.  It's a pretty simple challenge...use the colors, red, green and yellow.

Well...it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be.  I started with my image, the flowers from the "Willow Whimsy" set by Designed2Delight and colored it with markers.  Now you would think finding a piece of patterned paper that I wanted to go with the image would be pretty easy, but NO, it took me forever to finally decide on the strip of "Fly a Kite" collection by October Afternoon.  I backed it with a piece of "Classic Red" cardstock by The Paper Company that had been punched on the bottom edge with the Apron Lace punch by Fiskars and embossed on top with the Polka Dot embossing folder by Provo Craft.  OK...red...check...yellow...check.  Hmm...I need some green and in came the green polka dot ribbon from Michaels.  I corner rounded the bottom edges and then stamped the sentiment.  It's a wonderful stamp set from Paper Trey Ink, Round and Round.  To finish off the card, I added some Glossy Accents to the centers of the flowers.

Snow Friend

There's Snow Friend Like You...

How cute is this image, "Snow Friends" by Whimsie Doodles?  Absolutely adorable if you ask me and I couldn't resist it!  It's such a clean and simple image and I wanted to keep the card that way, too.  I printed the sentiment, which is part of the set, on a piece of white cardstock and used it as part of my card panel.  The other third of the panel is a red strip from DCWV's, Amber Autumn Collection.  I used Fiskar's Apron Lace punch to make the border between the two panels.  The image was quick to color with markers and cut out with a circle die cut, layered with a black circle and attached to the card.  I finished with a white felt snowflake (found in the sewing dept @ WalMart) with a red brad center.  I hope you like this card as much as I do!

With Love Tag

A big THANK YOU to everyone that visited my blog during D2D Valentine Blog Hop.  Everyone left such sweet comments and I hope I gave you some great inspiration for your Valentine creations.

Here is a little tag I made...

Pretty quick and easy to make.  The tag is made from my "George" Cricut cartridge.   I printed the flower digital image from the Simple Valentine set by D2D.  I printed the flower again on the patterned paper so that I could paper piece the flower and colored the stem and leaves with a marker.  The patterned paper is KA-ZOO collection by K & Company.  Cute Valentine papers and accessories.  I added a strip of patterned paper down the left side of the tag and a couple rows of scallops (SU! punch).  The stitching was done by hand with some red embroidery floss.  The sentiment is from "Greetings" by Heidi Grace with a button attached.  I added some sheer white ribbon and a pink bow to finish off the tag.  Now, I need to make a gift bag or treat container to match my tag.

Christmas Wintery Combo

***D2D Blog Hop is 2 Posts Down***

(I am posting a day late)

Theme: Christmas Wintery Combo
For many January means snow, cold and/or ice. For this week's challenge create a Christmas/Winter card/project using blues & purples. You can also use white and/or black for your neutral. Also use any embellishment that seems "icy" to you...glitter, glossy effects, clear coating, etc.

I used the Designed2Delight "Snowman Love" image.  I colored him up with lots of purple and aqua blue.  I added Purple Saphire glitter (Martha Stewart) to the hanging hearts and all the hearts on the snowflake.  I tried a new technique with the glitter.  Instead of using glue, I used Crystal Effects as my "glue" for the glitter.  It works great and really seems to hold the glitter.  I added a black layer and a purple scalloped layer to the image.  The background is embossed with Polka Dots embossing folder (Provo Craft).  The sentiment is a stamp from Stampabilities, "Merry Christmas Always" and I have used it alot during the holiday season.  Definitly one that I got my money's worth out of!  I layered a felt snowflake, a snowflake punch (Martha Stewart) with glitter added and a button on top.

Go check out more D2D design team creations over at the D2D Card Ideas Blog.  I hope you play along with us for a chance to win some great digital images.

Wedding Congrats

***D2D Blog Hop is one post down***

2 Sisters Challenge Blog
Theme: Flowers
Sponsor: Digi Doodles

Digi Doodles was nice enough to let the design team choose any image in their shop to work with this week.  There were so many great images, but I ended up choosing "Wedding Cake".  It's a secret ambition of mine to someday become a cake decorator and I guess this is the next best thing...color and create with one!

I went with a red wedding theme for my wedding cake image.  I colored all the flowers and the decorative accents on the cake red and added some sparkle with my Stardust glitter pen.  I used a Polka Dot embossing folder for the background.  I tried to keep the card clean and elegant looking.  I layered the image on red and black card stock and added a red bow.  The sentiment is from Congrats by SU! and is stamped in black ink.  The red felt flower has a brad added to the center.

Go check out all the other Design Team's creations and play along with us this week over at 2 Sisters Challenge Blog.  You might win some free images from Digi Doodles and it's a great theme this week...FLOWERS.

We are one month away from Valentine's Day and we are hoping to give you some really great inspiration for your own Valentine's Day creations.  Designed 2 Delight has a great selection of cute images that would work perfectly for Valentine's Day.

Each D2D Designer has used a different image and here is what you need to do as you are hopping along:

Collect the name of the D2D image used at each stop in the correct order and then at the end you will need to leave a comment with the images in their correct order to be entered into the drawing to win all of the featured images used in the blog hop.  You have until Sunday, Jan 16 at Midnight (Eastern time) to post your answers.

FINALLY...here is my creation

I chose to create with "Be Mine Bear".  I colored her up with my Copic markers and added the sentiment with a rubber stamp (Stamps of life, Luv2Hug) that happened to be the perfect sentiment for my Be Mine Bear.  I created a little treat pocket with the Labels One die cuts (Nestabilities) and assorted patterned paper by K & Company (KA-Zoo Collection).  For the pocket I used half of a die cut on the bottom.  The sides and bottom of the pocket are attached with sticky tape to make it really strong.  Nobody wants to loose their Valentine treats...especially CHOCOLATE!  I added a strip of red cardstock, the bottom loopy portion of the Garden Trellis punch (Martha Stewart) and some silver pearls.  The Bee Mine Bear is attached with foam tape.  Looking pretty and ready to make someone smile on Valentine's Day.

Next stop is Jane and I am sure she will have something great to share with you.

Blog Hop and More...

A heads up that the Designed2Design design team is having an "Images the D2D Designers Love" Valentine Blog Hop on Friday, January 14th starting at 11 a.m (Eastern Time).  YES...that is in 2 days!!  You will want to stop by and check out all the great Valentine ideas and hopefully get some great inspiration for your own Valentine's Day creations.

On to a card that I made.  I needed some mailer friendly thank you cards and this is what I came up with.

It's a very clean & simple card.  I started with the patterned paper, Blue Snowflakes and Polka Dots (The Paper Company) and found that SU!'s Taken with Teal cardstock and ink matched perfectly.  I used a die cut circle with a scalloped layer to randomly stamp some snowflakes with a stamp by Stampabilities (Itty Bitty Snowflake).  I stamped once with Taken with Teal (SU!) ink and stamped a second time without reinking the stamp to make the lighter colored snowflakes.  The sentiment is by Heidi Grace.   I punch a snowflake (Martha Stewart punch) out of vellum and added it to the sentiment circle with a white brad.  Quick, easy and ready to be sent in the mail without any extra postage.

Purple Princess

CHALLENGE: Something Old, Something New

It's challenge 2 and it was a pretty easy one.  Use something old and use something new on your card.

Something Old:  Princess Wishes Set digital image, I have had it printed off and colored for quite some time now, but never made into a card.  The patterned paper is quite old, as is the ribbon.

Something New:  Garden Trellis Deep Edger Punch by Martha Stewart.

She's a pretty princess all in purple.  I used some older patterned paper that matched perfectly.  It is Trick or Treat Polka Dots by The Paper Company.  I colored the image and use the Labels Ten die cuts, added some glitter here and there and some chalk ink around the edges.  The border at the bottom is my new Martha Stewart punch, Garden Trellis Deep Edger punch and I am really liking it.  I added some purple pearls and a purple ribbon to make it quite girly.  The flower on top of the bow is part of the Princess Wishes digital set

Play along with us over at Card Ideas and use some new crafty things and some of your older, forgotten things.  Use up that older patterned paper so you can justify buying some new to replace it.

Today's image is Love Ewe and here is my creation...

Is this image adorable or what?!!  I colored up my image with Copic markers, cut it out with a heart die cut and then leaving the die cut on the image, I sponged some ink around the edges.  What a fun technique and it adds a little white frame around your image and softens the stark white.  Some ribbon, a fence border punch, polka dot embossing folder, red glitter and silver pearls make this card fun!

Don't wait...go get your FREE image to play with and continue to play with us all month over at Delightful Inspirations.

Just a Note...set that is

A Valentine's Day note pad set!  This was a really fun project :) and it will be a really great gift for someone!

Here is just the note pad holder.  Here are the simple directions:
Cardstock (matching your patterned paper): cut 5.5" x 8.25", score at 2 5/8", 2 7/8".
Patterned Paper: Outside panel - 2.5" x 8"
Flap on paper pad: 1 7/8" x 2.5", score at 7/8", 1"
Use sticky tape to adhere the note pad to the holder.
Embellish to your taste.

Here is a view of the inside when the note pad is open.  The note pad has been attached to the right side with sticky tape.  The patterned paper is the same dimensions as the outside (see above) and I just winged the little pocket.  I cut a piece of patterned paper 4" x 2.5" and diagonally cut the top.  I added sticky tape to the sides and bottom only and attached to create a little pocket for receipts of your matching paper clip.

And last but not least the cute little paper clip.  I started out with a jumbo paper clip and heart die cuts (I used the next to the smallest heart nestabilities).  I always cut out some chip board, also to adhere the heart shape to the make the paperclip just a little more sturdy.  I used crystal effects to adhere the hearts to the paper clip and just let it sit for a while to dry and then added my button embellishment.
The matching pen is a RSVP pen by Pentel.  Cut a thin 4" strip of matching patterned paper, unscrew the end cap on the pen remove the ink tube (?) and roll your paper around it and insert back into the pen, reattach the end cap.
Since this was my first attempt, it probably took a little longer than usual, you know with deciding on which papers and all the little details of designing consists of and not to mention the HUGE mess that is needing to be cleaned up afterward.  I am looking forward to making more:)
I used assorted patterned paper from K & Company's, KA-ZOO All in One paper pad.  It includes lots of Valentine patterned papers, stickers and even some cute little Valentine's.

2nd Up:
Challenge:  Thinking of You
Sponsor: Stitchy Bear Stamps

We were given several images to work with and I chose, Chloe's Ballet Lesson by Lil' Diva Stamps.  It was a nice change to work with a pastel creation and something non-Christmas/Winter.  This image is absolutely adorable and with 2 granddaughters, I am sure to use it over and over again.

As part of the challenge last week we began collecting cards to give to patients at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass. So this week we have decided to continue our challenge for one more week. So what we would like you to do is to create a card with the theme of THINKING OF YOU. You can also use HELLO, JUST FOR YOU & JUST A NOTE as sentiments on your card. We are asking that you please refrain from using the sentiment of get well. As soon as you have created your card and entered it into the challenge, we are asking you to write a note of encouragement inside your card and address the envelope to "ANY PATIENT" and then place the card into an envelope addressed to Stacy:
Stacy Walker

15 Willow Way

Swanville, Maine 04915

USA

When your package is on it's way please email Stacy at twosisterschallengeblog@live.com to let her know that you have sent your card. Stacy will be delivering the cards to Brigham & Women's Hospital on January 30th so you have plenty of time to enter and get your card(s) to her. The cards will then be handed out to the patients in their transplant wards. Our hope is that when they open up the cards it will help brighten their day.
